Ödledansen

The starting point of this project is a series of drawings that have been reworked into a fragmented yet coherent narrative. While the story unfolds in a non-linear way, it is held together within the physical and conceptual boundaries of the traditional printed book. The format becomes both a framework and a point of resistance: a structure that contains the work while simultaneously being questioned by it.
The project draws on entities and concepts borrowed from nature and its systems of growth—such as lizards, Orcinus orca, water, and plants—which together form a kind of microsystem. These elements interact and evolve, creating a narrative concerned with mental maturation, metamorphosis, and the impulse to move beyond imposed borders. Rather than presenting transformation as a clear or final state, the work approaches it as an ongoing process of breaking free from limitations and inherited systems of rules—perhaps as a form of maturity in motion.
My working process involves a continuous cycle of material transformation. I use different types of paper, print on them, tear them apart, reassemble them, photograph them, and partially obscure or cover surfaces. Through this repetitive reworking, a kind of circulation emerges in which the material qualities and characteristics of the papers become integral to the symbolic system of the story.
This is an ongoing project, and new components are constantly added. Many of the symbols recur from earlier works and have long been part of my artistic language—a symbolic vocabulary that continues to develop and shift across different projects. Moving back and forth between languages, primarily English and Swedish, also plays a role in this evolution, as translation introduces subtle shifts in meaning and opens up new interpretative possibilities.
It has been presented in various ways, with final form at Lunds Konsthall artist’s books exhibition.
It was also presented at the exhibition IFÖ art center as a slideshow.
