Within the Scope of Possibility
In 2017, I was part of Husby Art Gallery in Stockholm’s exhibition series, in which they explored the concept of freedom from different perspectives.
The collages draw on images from the Orechov series and fragments and extracts from The Dancing of Lizards, alongside the first display of the artist’s book Sondra’s Perspective.
Extract from interview in Konstperspektiv Art Magazine no3 2017: “I often work with frames, either hung on a wall or by working inside the borders of a specific room. I have incredibly many rules in my work My imagery often involves fixed structures and grids. It might sound paradoxical, but I need rules to be able to work freely. I must have rules that I can play with, and break. The breaking of borders and rules is important and liberating on a psychological, as well as existential level.”
