Wall collage at Fukui Camera Service – The Rings Around Saturn
Fukui Camera Service repairs large volumes of damaged cameras for camera manufacturers across Japan. I was invited to create a wall piece for their newly renovated premises, intended to inspire both employees and visiting clients.
Working from photographs taken with an old analog camera, I developed a collage on site over the course of three weeks. Employees were able to take part in the process by following the work through a live camera feed.
The entire process was also documented through photographs taken at one-minute intervals; the resulting film is included in my portfolio.
Mr. Takayama took me to an exceptional paper workshop. Japan has a deep tradition of papermaking, and its mastery of the craft is unmistakable. I also visited the Paper Shrine to pay my respects and offer gratitude to the gods of paper.
